Western International Insurance Company was determined to be insolvent after payment of a settlement of litigation between the company and a former officer of the company. Shortly after the payment was made, the company sustained significant losses as a result of the Los Angeles riots in May 1992.
The Western International estate completed its final distribution on October 1, 2009. On December 1, 2009, the California Insurance Commissioner was discharged as Liquidator concurrent with the filing of the Declaration of Compliance.
