May 6, 2004 - The Conservation & Liquidation Office (CLO) has recently been receiving a number of phone calls requesting information about "Environmental Casualty Company". The parent company of that entity is Commercial Casualty Insurance Company of North Carolina. That company is liquidated in North Carolina and it had operations in California, under the Environmental Casualty name.

The confusion arises in that one of the liquidated Superior companies was named "Commercial Compensation Casualty Company". There is no relation between the two entities. CIGA may well have some claims exposure, but the CLO is not involved in the North Carolina liquidation of Commercial Casualty Insurance Company.
