OUR
PRIVACY PRINCIPLES
INFORMATION
THAT WE COLLECT AND HOW WE USE IT
In
the process of providing accurate insurance quotes and services
that meet your needs, we collect and use information we believe
is necessary to administer our business, to properly underwrite
your insurance application and provide you with the most accurate
quote, to process your claims, to ensure proper billing, to advise
and offer you other National Auto products and services, and to
provide you with customer service. Accordingly, we may collect and
maintain various types of customer information needed for these
purposes. The information is provided by you, and obtained by us
through several means. The sources below illustrate several examples
of the way we gather information.
From
You (on applications, or on other forms, through telephone
or in-person interviews, via internet interactions, through your
agent, and our call center) such as your name, address, telephone
number, date of birth, license number, gender, marital status, vehicle
information, other driver information, occupation, prior insurance
information, miles driven, vehicle use, accident history, driving
history, your insurance coverage selections and premiums, payment
preferences and other billing information.
From
Your Transactions with Us, such as your payment history,
underwriting, or information learned while adjusting, investigating
and settling insurance claims.
From
Non-National Auto Companies, such as motor vehicle records
and claims history.
From
Consumer Reporting Agencies, such as your credit history
(including creditworthiness, credit standing, credit capacity, character,
general reputation, personal characteristics and mode of living
("Restricted Credit Information").
RIGHT
OF ACCESS AND CORRECTION
We
strive to ensure that our records contain accurate information about
you. Accordingly, you have a right of access to review your information
that we have in our files and request a correction of anything therein.
We will promptly investigate and make the necessary changes to update
your records. If you wish to review your information, you may call

INFORMATION
DISCLOSURE
National
Auto does not sell, lease, or rent the personal information of our
customers, potential customers, or former customers to other companies.
National Auto does not provide personal information to persons or
organizations for their own marketing purposes. National Auto
only shares our customers, prospective customers, and former customers
information with other companies as illustrated below, and as otherwise
permitted or required by law.
In
the process of obtaining and maintaining your policies with National
Auto, or in providing services or products to you, we may disclose
all the personal information about you that we collect as described
above. For example, we may disclose information to:
- Other
insurance or financial services companies affiliated with National
Auto
- Companies
or persons at your request
- Businesses
that provide services to us for underwriting, processing payments
or changes to your policy, to assist us with claims adjusting,
to protect you against fraud or unauthorized transactions
- Companies
or governmental entities as permitted or required by law
- Companies
that perform marketing services on our behalf or to other financial
institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements. When
we use outside services or other financial institutions to assist
with our marketing programs, we may provide them with all the
personal information that we collect as described above, but we
do not permit them to use the personal information for any other
purpose.
National
Auto does not share any Restricted Credit Information (such as creditworthiness,
credit sharing, credit capacity or credit score received from a
credit-reporting agency) with nonaffiliated companies. Under the
Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) we are, however, permitted to share
information about your transactions or experiences with us (such
as payment history) with our affiliated companies to the extent
that we do not receive an opt-out from you.
CONFIDENTIALITY
& SAFEGUARDS
Your
personal information is safeguarded at National Auto. Only those
employees and parties who must use information to provide products
and services to you have access. Use of your personal information
is limited by our employee code of conduct, non-disclosure agreements
where appropriate and through applicable law. National Auto also
maintains procedural, physical, and electronic protection to guard
your information from being accessed by unauthorized persons.
CHANGES
TO THIS POLICY
This
policy is subject to change and may be amended at any time. You
will be informed of changes as required by law. This policy replaces
any other statements about National Autos privacy policy.
RIGHT
TO OPT-OUT
As
previously stated, National Auto makes personal information available
externally only to respond to legitimate business needs of which
you are previously informed in disclosures or agreements, to respond
to regulatory or other governmental authorities, or as otherwise
permitted by law. Above all, we value your trust and your confidence
in our ability to manage and protect your important personal information.
We disclose nonpublic personal information only as described above
under Information Disclosures. Should you still prefer to restrict
our use of your information, National Auto offers you an opt-out.
If
you prefer that we not disclose nonpublic personal information about
you to nonaffiliated third parties or disclose to affiliates the
Restricted Credit Information, you may opt out of those disclosures,
That is, you may direct us not to make those disclosures (other
than disclosures required by law, or those expressly exempted by
law, as discussed above). If you wish to opt out of the disclosures
to nonaffiliated third parties or to opt out of disclosure of the
Restricted Credit Information to affiliates, you may do so by completing
the enclosed "opt-out" notice below or by calling the
